Drive-by shooting at Bunkie residence under investigation

Bunkie Police Department officers responded to a 911 call reporting a drive-by shooting at the intersection of East Magnolia Street and South Cottonwood Street on Saturday, Feb. 21, at approximately 7:30pm. According to the initial on-scene investigation, an unknown vehicle approached the intersection and an unknown suspect fired multiple rounds at a residence.
 
The residence was struck by gunfire; however, none of the rounds penetrated the interior of the home. The residence was occupied at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.
 
This investigation remains active and ongoing at the time of this press release. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Bunkie Police Department.
 
Assistant Chief of Police Brandon Horton stated, “Regarding the shooting that occurred Saturday night, I take it extremely personally that our citizens were unable to enjoy peace and safety inside their own home. We will work tirelessly to identify and apprehend those responsible for this heinous act. My message to those involved is clear: gun violence will not be tolerated in the City of Bunkie. You will be found, you will be arrested, and you will be held accountable for your actions.”
