Forecast Summary

Avoyelles Parish closes out January under a steady, cool pattern that feels unmistakably wintry but never harsh. The first half of the period is dominated by dry air and broad high pressure, keeping skies mostly sunny and temperatures on the cooler side. Mornings start crisp in the 30s, while afternoons climb into the 50s — a quiet, stable stretch that reinforces the season’s slower rhythm.

  • As the weekend approaches, the atmosphere begins to shift. Southerly flow strengthens, ushering in a noticeable warm‑up that peaks on Sunday and Monday. Those two days bring a brief taste of early spring, with highs soaring into the upper 60s and mid‑70s — a sharp contrast to the chilly mornings earlier in the week. The warmth is accompanied by increasing breezes and a gradual thickening of cloud cover, subtle signs that the calm pattern is preparing to give way.
  • By Tuesday, the next system arrives, bringing light rain and a return to cooler temperatures. The rainfall isn’t heavy, but it marks the end of the warm spell and signals a more unsettled pattern as February begins.
  • Overall, the period delivers a cool, quiet start; a warm, breezy midpoint; and a gentle, rain‑cooled finish — a week that captures the full range of late‑winter variability in central Louisiana.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts from the National Weather Service and local meteorologists.
