On the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 28, the City of Bunkie held a surprise retirement celebration for Carl Jeansonne, who has worked in the city’s water, sewer, and street department for the past thirty years. The City Hall Annex was filled with Carl’s current and former coworkers, family, and friends, many of whom shared stories of his strong work ethic and kind, supportive nature.

“Carl is a one-of-a-kind person who has been an asset to this city for many years. He cares deeply for this community, his coworkers, and our citizens. He’s been the go-to guy in our ranks. We will miss not only his professionalism and expertise, but also his friendly and supportive presence. Carl will always have a place in our City of Bunkie family,” stated Mayor Brenda C. Sampson.

The entire City of Bunkie bunch extended its gratitude to Carl for his service to the city and, more importantly, his friendship, and congratulated him on his well-earned retirement.
