Although Avoyelles Parish is no longer under a burn ban, the area is still experiencing extremely dry conditions along with strong wind gusts. These conditions can cause fires to spread quickly and become dangerous in a matter of minutes.

 

Simmesport VFD is asking the public to please refrain from burning at this time. Even controlled burns can easily get out of hand with the current weather conditions.
