The Bunkie Police Department Special Response Team (SRT) executed search warrants at locations within the city in the early pre-dawn hours of Friday, March 13.

 

The search warrants were issued following several man-hours of intelligence gathering and surveillance targeting locations suspected of involvement in the illegal trafficking of firearms and narcotics. During the operation, three individuals were taken into custody, and officers seized multiple firearms, narcotics, and a quantity of U.S. currency believed to be connected to illegal activity.

 

The names of the individuals arrested are not being released at this time, as the investigation remains active and ongoing.

 

Bunkie Assistant Chief of Police Brandon Horton issued the following statement: “Gun violence and illegal drugs are a cancer in communities across America, including our own. Here at Bunkie PD, we will continue to hold accountable those who participate in gun violence and those who traffic drugs in our community.”

 

Asst. Chief Horton added, “Addressing these issues requires a proactive approach, and that is exactly what our department remains committed to doing. If operations like this ultimately save even one life, then we have accomplished our mission. I want the public to know the type of hardworking and courageous men and women serving here at Bunkie PD, from our officers to our dispatchers. They sacrifice a great deal to make our community safer. There is more to come as this operation and investigation continues.”
