Weather Outlook: Thunderstorms and clouds abound

Avoyelles Parish is looking at a forecast window that begins with storms and ends with clouds. High temps will stay in the 80s, with lows ranging in the 60s and 70s. The highest chance for rain during this period will be 40% across several days, starting on Thursday and running through Sunday.

Wednesday, May 27: Scattered thunderstorms with a 40% chance of rain with locally heavy rainfall possible. High will be 79°F and the overnight low will be 69°F. Mostly cloudy skies overnight with winds light and variable.   

Thursday, May 28: Showers in the morning with isolated thunderstorms arriving in the afternoon and the potential for heavy rainfall with a 40% chance of rain. The high will be 89°F. Nighttime temperatures will be 70°F with considerable cloudiness.

Friday, May 29: Mostly cloudy early with scattered thunderstorms developing later in the day with a 40% chance of rain. The day’s high will be 88°F. Nighttime skies will be partly cloudy with a low of 72°F and winds light and variable.

Saturday, May 30: Scattered showers and thunderstorms during the day with a 40% chance of rain. The high will be 90°F. At night, a few clouds from time to time and a low of 72°F

Sunday, May 31: Partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms and a 40% chance of rain. The high will be 87°F. Nighttime skies will see a few clouds with a low of 70°F with winds light and variable.

Monday, June 1: Monday will see partly to mostly cloudy with widely scattered showers or thunderstorms possible in the afternoon with a 30% chance of rain and a high of 83°F and lows around 66°F. Nighttime weather will feature partly cloudy skies and winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph. 

Tuesday, June 2: Today is the day that the rain will slack off, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 83°F. Tuesday night will see a few clouds from time to time and an overnight low 66°F with winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph. 

Overall, this will be characterized by a pattern of scattered thunderstorms, no sun, and lots of cloud. No storms are forecast to be severe, but locally heavy rainfall is possible Wednesday and Thursday.
