The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced a $5.3 million highway improvement project along a major stretch of LA 107 in Avoyelles Parish.

Work began Monday, Aug. 10, covering over seven miles of highway from Mark Street in Marksville to the Red River Bridge. The scope of work includes full-depth base repairs, old asphalt milling, new asphalt repaving, fresh roadway striping, and updated signage. Construction is expected to wrap up in late Fall 2026, depending on weather and site conditions. Intermittent lane closures are likely throughout the work area.

Sheriff David L. Dauzat and the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office remind all motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists to exercise heightened caution around active work zones. Please watch for advance warning signage, reduce speed as posted, keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of you, and stay vigilant for roadside crews and heavy machinery.
