The Avoyelles Teen Court Orientation was held on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the 12th JDC Courthouse in Marksville for 10-12th grade students. 

 

Teen Court is a unique opportunity for students in 10th–12th grade to step into the world of law and justice. For the past 27 years, the Avoyelles program has been building accountability, positive peer influence, competency, and youth empowerment, and is proud to be one of the few Teen Courts still active in Louisiana. 

 

Students were able to serve as a Prosecutor, Defense Attorney, Bailiff, or Juror while gaining real experience in how the judicial system works.

 

Administrators, teachers, and parents were also invited to attend sessions to see the impact this program has on youth.

 

Students interested in law or leadership were able to gain real-world experience and make a difference by joining Teen Court. Teen Court isn’t just about the courtroom—it’s about preparing future leaders.
