Bunkie Police Department responded to a 911 call of a shooting in the parking lot of the Family Dollar store located on NW Main Street at 9:33am on Saturday, April 18.
Bunkie PD officers discovered that two male subjects engaged in a verbal altercation that led to the suspect producing a handgun then firing striking the male victim in the leg. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he has been treated and released. The suspect, Charles Lee, 79 of Bunkie, was immediately arrested by officers and charged with the following charges:
Attempted 2nd Degree Murder
Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Illegal Use of Weapons
Disturbing the Peace
Charles Lee was then transported to the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center #1.
